Houses Sold Close to Downtown
Downtown continues to be a hot topic for many millennials. Being within walking distance has become an important criteria for many home buyers. Last week, I looked at statistics of the neighborhood Newtown. I thought it might be interesting to get a bigger picture of all home sales within .75 miles of Downtown.
The graph above is comparing the housing prices within a .75 mile radius of downtown and all of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. As you can tell from the trend line, housing close to downtown is increasing more rapidly than Harrisonburg and Rockingham County as a whole.
The median house price for houses close to downtown has risen 17.5% since 2014. Harrisonburg and Rockingham county, as a whole, has risen 7%.
