Lakewood is a beautiful community located in Rockingham County, southeast of Harrisonburg. This is a very desirable location with views of Massanutten and in close proximity to Lakeview Golf course, Lake Shenandoah, Sentara RMH Hospital, and James Madison University. History
Lakewood Estates is one of the larger and more established communities in Rockingham County. Lakewood was established in May 1984 with Section One that started Lakewood drive and incorporated all of Tahoe Ct. Section One added 16.08 acres to the Lakewood Estates Subdivision.
In April 1986, Section Two and Section Three was surveyed introducing Arrowhead Rd to the subdivision. Section Two added 8.994 acres while Section Three added 11.3.
In March 1987, Section Four continued Arrowhead Rd and introduced South Crescent Rd, Bluewater Rd, and Superior Dr. If you don't recognize Superior Dr, it is now called Cumberland Dr. Section Four added 26.832 Acres to the Lakewood Estates Subdivision.
In July 1988, Section Five was introduced and continued Lakewood Dr, Bluewater Rd, and Cumberland Dr (formerly Superior Dr). Section Five added 22.44 acres to Lakewood.
Section Six was surveyed in February 1990, which continued Cumberland Dr, completed Bluewater Rd, and introduced Winona Ln. Section Six added 21.972 acres to the Lakewood subdivision.
In August of 1991, Section Seven was surveyed and added Huron Ct. Section Seven added 21.344 acres to Lakewood.
Section Eight was surveyed in June 1994 completing Arrowhead Rd and adding houses along Taylor Springs Rd. Section Eight added 6.909 acres to the Lakewood Estates Subdivision.
After a long pause in development and in defiance of Y2K, Section Nine was surveyed in September 2000 and revised in March 2001. Section Nine completed Cumberland Dr and introduced Seneca Rd. Section Nine adds 19.040 acres to Lakewood Estates.
Section Ten was surveyed in May 2001 completing the Lakewood Estate subdivision. Section Ten completed Seneca Rd, added Swiftwater Ct, and added a few lots on Shen Lake Dr. Section 10 added 10.607 acres to Lakewood.
